ROLY POLY ROMERO: HANEY'S ALL MOUTH, NO GLOVES! BENN'S BRUSH-OFF!
Rolly Romero has launched a scathing attack on Devin Haney, accusing him of ducking a fight, and then inexplicably took a swipe at Britain's Conor Benn. The American lightweight is all talk, no action, according to Romero, who also dismissed Benn as irrelevant.
Rolly Romero, the self-proclaimed 'problem', has been running his gob again, this time taking aim at Devin Haney and, rather bizarrely, our very own Conor Benn. Romero, never one to shy from a verbal scrap, claims Haney bottled it when it came to fight negotiations. He's calling Haney a 'scared little boy', saying the American lightweight king is all talk and no walk when it comes to stepping in the ring with him. It's a familiar tune in the sweet science, isn't it? Fighters calling each other out, then the purse strings get tangled, and suddenly, the 'dream fight' is dead in the water. We've seen it a million times, from Benn-Eubank to Froch-Groves. The fans get hyped, then let down. Romero, though, didn't stop there. He then took a completely unprovoked swipe at Conor Benn, suggesting 'The Destroyer' isn't on his radar. A bit rich, coming from a man who's hardly conquered the world himself. Benn, for his part, is busy rebuilding his career and reputation, and frankly, doesn't need the distraction of some Yank lightweight flapping his gums. Our lads, like Benn, are built on the cobbles, not on Twitter beef. Romero needs to focus on fighting, not just talking a good fight. Let's see him actually step up, rather than just throwing verbal jabs from the sidelines. The British boxing public demands action, not just noise. Put up or shut up, Rolly. That's the British way.
